Curtis Richards Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial on Jan. 20, 2026.
Curtis Libby Richards, 85, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born in Norwich, Connecticut, the son of the late Herbert and Ernel Richards. Curtis was raised in Lisbon, where he spent most of his life with his loving wife and son, later moving to Cromwell.

Curtis was a devoted member of St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church in Berlin and was proud to be a Free Mason. He found great joy in life's simple pleasures, especially taking long walks in the woods with his favorite dog, Cromwell. An accomplished woodworker, Curtis enjoyed creating with his hands, and he cherished the many vacations he shared with his beloved wife in Florida.

Curtis was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy K. Richards, with whom he shared a loving and devoted marriage, and by his brother, Wayne Richards.

He is survived by his son, Benjamin Richards, daughter-in-law, Christine, and his sister-in-law, Barbara Hilferty. They will forever cherish his memory and the quiet strength, kindness, and love he brought into their lives.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, February 21, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church, 68 Main St., East Berlin. Burial will be private.

Curtis will be remembered through the many lives he touched, the memories he created, and the quiet moments of love and devotion he shared with those closest to him. A funeral mass will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Avenue, Newington. To share a memory with his family, please visit us at www.duksa.net.
