Curtis Green Skelton, age 89, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away at her son's home on October 13, 2023. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Unity Baptist Church. The service will be officiated by. Bro. Joseph Morrison. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Skelton is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, James Roland Skelton, Sr.; her parents, Charles and Louvennie Green; her sister, Rebecca (Becky) Alleen Cameron; and brother, C.H. Green Jr.
She is survived by her sons, James Roland Skelton Jr. (Aubrey Nell) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Charles Bart Skelton (Leslie) of Selma, Alabama; granddaughters, Rosa Yvonne Skelton of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Catherine Cammille "Katy" Olinger (John Alan) of McCalla, Alabama; grandson, Charles Kennington "Kent" Skelton of Selma, Alabama; and great grandson, Dale Kennington Olinger of McCalla, Alabama.
She is survived by special family members and friends, Richard Poe Sr; Joe Cameron IV; Lynn Zennah; Scott and Carol Hunter; and Patricia Pate.
Mrs. Skelton was a lifelong resident of Tuscaloosa. She attended Tuscaloosa High School, where she was a member of the 1952 graduating class. Her activities and honors included Senior Class Who's Who (Best All Around), Majorette, Honor Society, Beta Club, Pep Squad, Mixed Chorus, Student Council Secretary and Homecoming Queen.
She retired from the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Department with the goal of spending as much time as possible with her family, and especially with her grandchildren. Mrs. Skelton was a longtime member of Hopewell Baptist Church and was a member of Unity Baptist. She enjoyed her hobbies of solving crossword puzzles, reading, watching her favorite T.V. shows and Hallmark movies and spoiling the kitty cats.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Unity Baptist Church, (Operation Christmas Child), 6622 Unity Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401 or to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
