Curtis L. Whitfield went to be with his heavenly Father for Father's Day on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Chateau Pines Assisted Living in Brandon, MS. He was born on April 2, 1934, in Westwego, LA, to Louie M. and Curtis Estelle Ward Whitfield.
He was married to the love of his life, Dorothy Whitfield, for over sixty-four years until her passing in March 2024. After his retirement, they purchased a camper and traveled to many states across the country. One of their favorite places to visit was the Great Smoky Mountains during the changing of the leaves. He enjoyed spending time with his family and their get-togethers. Sitting on the front porch with Dorothy, drinking their morning coffee, will always be one of the grandchildren's greatest memories of the two together. He was a great storyteller and loved reminiscing about his younger days. He kept his lawn pristine and enjoyed working outdoors. He enjoyed football, basketball, camping with friends and a good card game with friends.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mendenhall, MS.
Curtis is survived by one son, Curtis Todd Whitfield; daughter, Debbie Laird (Robert); grandchildren, Adam Laird, April Laird, Dillon Whitfield, Christopher Whitfield, Ashley Whitfield, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy; his parents, Louie and Curtis Estelle Whitfield, and his sister, Ruby Peoples.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall, MS, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. James Smith officiating. Interment will follow in D'Lo Cemetery.
