Cynthia N. Armstrong,
A gracious and courageous woman, Cindy lost her battle with cancer November 9, 2023. She is remembered for her kindness, intelligence, outgoing personality, quick wit, sense of humor, infectious smile and energetic love of life. Born March 3, 1953, in Fergus Falls, MN, she grew up in Campbell, MN, where, while in high school, she was accepted to two national summer programs for high-achieving math students. Cindy attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, graduating with majors in mathematics and accounting in 1975. She joined the public accounting firm of Ernst & Young and became a licensed CPA. In 1982, she joined US Bank in their corporate accounting and reporting department. In 1987, she joined Fox, McCue & Murphy, a local public accounting firm.
Following the birth of her second child in 1989, Cindy devoted her talents and ambition to becoming a full-time mother. Just as her abilities afforded her success in the business world, she excelled in motherhood. With that came the opportunity to increase her commitment to volunteerism. She drove clients of VEAP in the south metro for many years and volunteered for nearly two decades at Prepare & Prosper assisting low-income persons with their tax returns. Her leadership skills led to positions on church council, high school council, and as a member of the board of directors of Minnesota Valley Country Club.
Cindy enjoyed many hobbies and interests from athletic to intellectual endeavors. Tennis, golf, pickle ball, hiking, bridge, knitting, mah jongg, reading and travel all served to quench her sense of adventure and the need to interact with others. Yet she had a contemplative side and enjoyed the serenity of lakeside living. But her greatest satisfaction was time with her family. She was the ultimate mom and nana, always planning special activities and adventures. Her love and thoughtfulness reached beyond her own children and was extended to anyone who came into her home.
Survived by her devoted husband of 41 years, Steve, daughters Courtney (Charlie) Lehmann and Chelsey (Tim) Hendrickson; three grandchildren, Marais Hendrickson, Dottie Lehmann and Roscoe Hendrickson; sisters Kim (Brad) Pauly and Kristi (Doug) O'Neill; and brothers Jeff (Judy) Neuman and Terry Neuman.
Preceded in death by her parents Ray and Dorothy Neuman and brother Mike Neuman.
