Cynthia Huenecke Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home on Nov. 5, 2025.

Cynthia A. Huenecke (nee Magnuson), died Friday, October 31, 2025, at age 80. She was born April 7, 1945, in Rush City, MN.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, John Oscar and Mildred Magnuson, and brother, John Magnuson.
Cindy is survived by husband, David; sister, Marjorie Peabody; sons, Sean (Cathy) and Todd (Carrie) and daughter, Molly Roenna (Joe); and grandchildren, Erik (Emily), Luke, Sofia, Annaliese, Dylan, and her adopted, "furry child" Charlie. Over the years, many of the children's friends became extended family.
Cindy and Dave made homes in many states, living in the Naperville area since 1981, but her heart was always in Lindstrom, MN, where she grew up and which served as a home-base through the many moves. She particularly loved any chance she had to sit and look out over the lake, coffee in hand with a donut from the bakery. Cindy was a strong woman of faith, she was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church since 1981, where she volunteered in many ways, such as singing in the choir, helping with summer Bible school, and volunteering as a nurse.
Cindy was a registered nurse with a specialization in Geriatrics. Her passion was in helping families care for older relatives. Cindy's love and caring was more than a profession, she also volunteered through the PEO philanthropic sorority, served on the Ecumenical Adult Day Care board, and helped animals at the ADOPT animal shelter.
Most importantly, Cindy was a wife, mom, and grandma. She was a vocal cheerleader at her grandkid's activities. Her cookies and cakes were the usual finale to wonderful holidays and celebrations. She took Charlie for walks and visited with her neighbors. She enjoyed genealogy and all things Swedish (Uff-da!) She and Dave traveled to many places and particularly loved Hawaii, which was another place she could look out over water and reflect. Many laughter-filled evenings were spent playing UNO, 500, Scrabble, and Mexican Train.
Cindy's legacy will live on in the love and caring she modeled as expectations for her children and grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 815 S. Washington St., Naperville, Illinois 60540, (630) 355-2522, on Friday, November 21, 2025, with visitation 9:00-11:00 AM, service at 11:00 AM, luncheon to follow the service.
