Cynthia Jacobsen, 77, of Aurora, Illinois, passed away peacefully on April 29, surrounded by her family. Cindy was born in Minnesota to Carl and Meredith Kaechele. She went to Maine West High School, class of 1966, where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Bruce Jacobsen, on August 24, 1968; their romance lasted nearly 60 years. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Cindy will always be remembered for her positivity, her warm smile, and for making everyone feel at home.
Cindy always had a great design style. She could walk into any room and come away with a design vision, or rearrangement if there was no budget. She turned this passion into a business with a dear friend, with lots of happy customers enjoying Cindy's touch on their homes.
Cindy became an avid golfer, with some of her best rounds over the last year. She was always ready to celebrate her friends with "birdie juice" for those holes under par. She was the best supporter of her three children and five grandchildren athletes, withstanding late nights, cold weather, and was there with hugs for both wins and losses to support her family.
For Cindy, nothing was more important than family and that includes the many, many friends who became like family over the years. She had a knack for bringing together groups of people and always making everyone feel welcome. She was often described as "the glue that holds everything together". She was the perpetual entertainer and was at her best when her home was humming with a group of people. She left a profound impact on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Bruce Jacobsen, brother Bruce Kaechele (sister-in-law Roni), sister Gail Biggs (brother-in-law Tom), and children Julie Jacobsen, Carrie Overton and Brad Jacobsen (daughter-in-law Gina), grandchildren Sydney, Taylor, Treyton, Mira, and Matthew as well as five nephews, one niece and 15 grandnieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Meredith Kaechele.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 7 at 11:00 a.m. in Good Shepard Church at 1310 Shepard Drive; Naperville, Illinois. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Immune Deficiency Foundation, a cause that has been dear to Cindy for the last 15 years since Matthew, her youngest grandson, was diagnosed with an immune disorder. Donations in her honor will help support the IDF and immuno-compromised patients.
