Cynthia (Meech) Lynch, age 68 of Grinnell and formerly of Marshalltown, passed suddenly on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at UnityPoint Health – Iowa Methodist Hospital Medical Center.
Cynthia Lee Meech was born on December 23, 1956 in Marshalltown, the daughter of Elaine Freeman. She was adopted by her loving parents, Donald and Helen (Lee) Meech. Cyndi graduated in the Class of 1975 from Marshalltown High School. She later went on to cosmetology school in Marshalltown.
Cyndi was united in marriage with David Lynch on October 16, 1989. They moved to their home near Grinnell, where they made countless memories with their children and grandchildren.
Over the years, Cyndi worked at various phone companies, as an assistant manager at Casey’s and other truck stops, and most recently, at Walmart as a clerk.
Cyndi loved to treat herself by painting her own nails; she was very talented and had endless options of color! The countless plants throughout the Lynch house showed Cyndi’s green thumb and her love for plants. Her biggest passion in life was animals. She always rescued and loved each animal that crossed her path. Cyndi donated to PALS in Grinnell and ASPCA as much as she could and had a home full of puppies most of her life.
Cyndi was preceded in death by her biological mom, Elaine Freeman; her parents, Donald and Helen Meech; and her brother, Ron Meech. Left to cherish her memory are: her husband of 36 years, David of Grinnell; her children, Chad Maas, Adam (Amy) Maas, Jeremy (Andrea) Lynch and Nikki Lynch; 16 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her step-dad, Larry Freeman; brother, Roger Kunde; and of course, some four-legged family members, her sweet pups, Jaxon, Josie, Jessie, Toby and Baby.
Per Cyndi’s wishes, cremation rites will take place. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. Memorial donations may be directed to PALS, Powshiek Animal League Shelter, 4167 20th Street, Grinnell, IA, 50112.
