Mitchell Family Funeral Home - MarshalltownDebra Sue Rush, a wonderful wife and mother, longtime resident of Bondurant, passed away recently in Omaha, NE.
A family led celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 24th, (PLEASE NOTE DATE), beginning with the service at 1:00 p.m. The service will be held at the Bondurant Federated Church, 103 2nd Street SW, Bondurant, IA, 50035. Following the service will be a celebration of life and chance to share memories with her family until 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Iowa Heart Center, a cause that was so special to Deb and her family.
Deb came into this world the daughter of Vern and Dorothy Collins. Her mom later was united in marriage to Clint Morrison. She graduated from the Marshalltown High School.
On March 15th, 1997, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ron Rush, in Runnels, Iowa. The couple was blessed with two children- Amanda and Kaitlyn.
Deb had blessed everyone around her with a servant’s heart. She did anything she could for everyone else - even when she was hurting and tired. It was a special time in her life when the doctor told her she was eligible to get a new heart. Even though she never had the chance to live with it, that glimmer of hope and the positivity of that special time was meaningful to all her family.
Fake pumpkin carving was a highlight of the year- something she learned from her step-dad Clint. She also enjoyed making diamond dots and listening to Barry Manilow and Ozzy Osborne. Most importantly was the time spent with family.
Left to treasure her life are Ron, her loving husband of 28 years, her daughter- Amanda (Tyler) Reichart and step-daughter Kaitlyn Rush; grandkitties Sophie and Dusty; siblings-Sandy (Ken) Latuska, Ann (Brian) Brennecke and Erin Sheehy, as well as many other family and friends.
In death, Deb rejoined her parents, her step-father Clint and grandson Andrew.
Deb’s family especially wants to thank the Iowa Heart Clinic that have been with Deb since day one; her LVAD coordinators Suzi, Makenzie, Dawn and Alison- she loved all of them so much that she considered them family. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
