Colleen Welch, age 99, of Marshalltown, Iowa and formerly of St. Anthony, Iowa, passed away on the evening of October 6, 2025 at Bickford Cottage in Marshalltown under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

Services for Colleen will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025 . Visitation for family and friends will be held at 1:00 PM followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorials in Colleen’s name may be directed to Bangor Liberty Friends Church Memorial Fund or West Marshall Foundation. Marilyn Colleen Dillon was born February 27, 1926 in Union, Iowa. She attended school at Union/Whitten and was a graduate of the Class of 1943. She furthered her education at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.

On January 12, 1946, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Paul E. Welch Sr. in Kansas City, Missouri. They made their home in St. Anthony, Iowa. Together they had three children, Paul Jr., Steve and Cheri. Colleen worked for the West Marshall Community School District in State Center. She was the friendly face of the middle school office over the course of 26 years until her retirement in 1989. Outside of work, Colleen was active in the Bangor Liberty Friends Church. She also took part in the Bangor Liberty Missionary. During her retirement, she volunteered at Zearing Healthcare Center.

In her free time, Colleen loved working in the garden and helping out on the farm. She additionally enjoyed sewing projects, camping, attending bluegrass concerts with her husband and her favorite pastime was mowing the lawn. She loved being a grandma and made it a point to attend as many of her grandchildren’s sporting events as possible.

Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her children, Paul (Trice) Welch Jr., Steve Welch, and Cheri (Mike) Nason; her grandchildren, Matt (Heather) Nason, Lisa Halter, Jeff Welch, Andy (Lara) Welch, Jon (Sabrina) Welch, Stephanie Welch, Amy Brown and Jennifer (Jason) Nevels; 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her brother Richard (Rita) Dillon.

In death she rejoins her husband, Paul Welch Sr.; her grandson, Jesse Nason; her parents, Cozzie and Clifton Dillon; brothers, Der Dillon and Roger Dillon and her sister Ginny Eales. Along with many dear friends and relatives that have gone before her.

A private family burial will take place following the services.
