Kim Edward Sowards, 71, of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown.
Graveside services for Kim will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Timber Creek Cemetery in Marshalltown. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Kim and his family.
Kim Sowards was born on July 21, 1954 to Edward and Carla (Hughes) Sowards. Kim grew up and was raised in the area. He owned and operated his own air conditioning business for 15 plus years. In his free time, Kim enjoyed woodworking, tending to his large garden- growing vegetables and flowers. He also had a musical passion, playing guitar and collecting music recordings and vintage audio equipment. Kim was also an avid pet lover.
Kim is survived by his siblings: Jim Sowards of Dallas, Texas, Jeff (Michelle) Sowards of Allen, Texas and Kevin (Melanie) Sowards of The Colony, Texas. He is also survived by his long-time friends: Joanne Manternach and Mary Ann and John Boriskey.
Kim is preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Carla.
