Cynthia Reynolds Nilson, 88, of Dunedin, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Born on September 15, 1936, in Fort Worth, Texas, Cynthia and her husband George made the move to Florida in 1957. Just 20 years old and a new mother, she embraced her new life with her signature optimism in a place she would call home for nearly seven decades.
Cynthia was the kind of person who never met a stranger. With her wit, warmth, and signature spice, she had a gift for turning chance encounters into lasting friendships. Whether offering a word of encouragement, sharing a story, or opening her home, she made people feel welcomed and truly seen. She was a devoted friend, a fierce advocate and the center of her family.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George, in 2008. They were married 52 years and together built a beautiful life.
She is survived by her brother Ed Reynolds (Eleanor), three daughters, Jan Ficarrotta (Frank), Ellen Beal (Tom), and Roxie Nilson (Doug); six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren-all of whom carry her strength, humor, and warmth in their hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, July 9 at 2:00 pm at Curlew Hills Memorial Garden. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life beautifully lived and deeply loved.
Cynthia's legacy is one of courage, connection, and kindness. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who had the joy of knowing her.
