Cynthia J. O'Beirne, 73, of Ipswich, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 6th. Born and raised in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Marie (Lindberg) Leonard.
Cindy was a graduate of Beverly High School and Salem State University. She married her high school sweetheart, Paul O'Beirne, and together they enjoyed 51 years of marriage. Their enduring partnership was a testament to the strength of their love and commitment to each other. Cindy dedicated herself to raising her three children and, with her husband, gave them an idyllic childhood, full of love and laughter. She instilled in her children the value of community service and helping others, with humility, leading by example. Throughout her life she volunteered at her children's schools, Meals On Wheels, nursing homes, and senior centers. She also brought her kindness and optimism to her students, while working as a preschool teacher for many years before she retired. She loved every opportunity to spend time with her three grandchildren and was the best "Mimi" they could have ever asked for.
Cindy was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, niece, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend. Her dedication to her family, friends and community was evident in every aspect of her life, and she will be forever missed and remembered with love by all who knew her. Cindy is survived by her loving husband Paul O'Beirne of Ipswich; her three children: Kathleen, Kevin, Julie and their spouses; her three beloved grandchildren: Kerry, JP and Kingston; her sister Christine; and many close in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services for Cindy are private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Cindy's memory to the Ipswich Council on Aging, 25 Green St., Ipswich, MA 01938.
