Cynthia Rose (Rullo) Salas, 74, of Houston, TX, passed away Friday, October 10, 2025. Cynthia was born July 20, 1951, in Downey, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Roseann (Kutzer) Rullo, and her sister, Sandra Ivory.
Cindi is survived by her husband, Juan Carlos "John" Salas; one brother, Ron Rullo, and his wife, Martha, of Tucson, AZ; two sisters, Georgiann Caskins and her husband, Dave, of Houston, TX, and Darlene Huffman and her husband, Mark, of Latrobe; a brother-in-law, Ken Ivory, of Latrobe; and numerous nieces, nephews, and devoted friends Joe Casares, Jennifer Spurlock, and Linda Fisher.
Cindi grew up in Latrobe, graduating from Greater Latrobe Senior High School in 1969. In 1982, she moved to Houston, Texas, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Business Management from LeTourneau University.
Cindi's career began at Allegheny Energy in 1969 working in various engineering technician roles until 1982. Then, she worked at CenterPoint Energy, where she held a number of managerial positions from 1982 through 2019. Throughout that time, she performed in various leadership capacities with geospatial information technology, underground line locating, land and right-of-way, and street lighting, retiring as Director of Purchasing and Logistics. In 2018, she was recognized as one of the Top 30 Influential Women of Houston, receiving Congressional recognition.
From March 2019 through November 2023, Cindi pursued her long-time love of entertaining and decorating by opening and operating "Your Cup of Tea," a traditional English-style tea room and "collectables" shop. She had numerous loyal customers and made many new friends while operating her beautifully decorated shop.
Cindi became a dedicated supporter and champion for the Houston Junior Forum through its Resale Shop and embraced its cause of charitable services for children, youth, women, and senior adults.
She enjoyed travelling abroad, Broadway shows, entertaining, Astros baseball, football (especially the Pittsburgh Steelers), playing Mahjong, and Movie Night with friends. Most importantly, Cindi loved her family as well as her cats, Snowball and Pepper.
A celebration of life was held Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 12 to 3 PM, with prayer and personal tributes at 1:30 PM at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in the Friendship Court Hall, 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77079.
Family and friends will be received from 10 AM to Noon on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Lopatich-Brinker Funeral Home, LLC, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. A funeral liturgy will be held at Noon on Saturday in the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Latrobe.
