Cynthia Shipman Obituary
Cyndi was born in New Castle on August 31, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Nick and Mary Ann Trepicone Cangey. A 1977 graduate of New Castle Senior High, Cyndi went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Social Work from Slippery Rock University in 1982. Cyndi spent her career in the social work field helping others. She formerly held positions at Community Alternatives, Bair Foundation, and various nursing homes in the community.
She enjoyed beach vacations and built many fond childhood memories with her family, immediate and extended, at Lake Erie each year. The greatest joy in her life, however, came from spending time with her beloved grandsons Stephen and Carson Shipman.
Cyndi is survived by her sons, David Shipman and Stephen (Leah) Shipman, sister Marcy Mendicino, brother Gary Cangey, her grandsons Stephen and Carson, nieces Krista Kioalicas, Carly Mendicino, and nephew Peter Mendicino, and three great-nephews. She is also survived by her aunt, Rita Tommelleo, with whom she shared a special bond.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 15th at Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, 941 S. Mill St. from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A procession will leave the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church officiated by Father Aaron Kriss.
