Cynthia A. Whitford (née Butts), a cherished and loving figure in her community, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Florida. Born in the tranquil town of Milton, Massachusetts, Cynthia's life journey was marked by her unwavering kindness, generosity, and the love she shared with those around her.
Cynthia's early years were spent in the neighboring communities of Holbrook and Dorchester, where she was raised and educated, developing a foundation of resilience and intellect. A proud graduate of East Boston High School, Cynthia's thirst for knowledge led her to pursue higher education at Aquinas College in Milton, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. Her academic achievements laid the groundwork for what would become a distinguished career.
Professionally, Cynthia dedicated many years of service as an Auditor for Bricklayers Local 3 in Boston. Her meticulous nature and commitment to fairness earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Cynthia's contributions to the workforce were not only a testament to her work ethic but also to her belief in the value of integrity in all aspects of life.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Cynthia was a woman of many passions. An avid reader, she found solace and adventure within the pages of countless books, each story adding to the tapestry of her imagination. Cynthia's love for crocheting allowed her to create beautiful pieces, each stitch a symbol of the care she put into her crafts. Traveling was one of her greatest joys, as she sought to experience the world's wonders and create lasting memories with those she held dear.
However, it was her role as a family matriarch that truly defined Cynthia. She was the beloved wife of Daniel P. Whitford, a partnership that exemplified mutual love and support. As a mother, her guidance and unconditional love flowed through Melody Jeannetti and her husband Richard of Hyde Park, Bryan Ducharme of Florida, and Joseph Bryant of Mississippi. Cynthia's siblings, Martha Calhoun of Norwood and David Butts of Florida, will remember her as a sister who always provided a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on.
Cynthia's legacy extends to her 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, whom she adored with every fiber of her being. Her presence at family gatherings was a source of joy, and her wisdom was a guiding light for the younger generations. The cherished moments spent with her grandchildren will forever be etched in their hearts, a testament to the love she so freely gave.
Cynthia A. Whitford's journey through life was a beacon of love, family, and commitment to one's passions and principles. Her memory will continue to inspire and influence all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of purpose, warmth, and the unwavering love that she bestowed upon us all.

My Aunt Cindy was one of the most hilarious people I have ever met! I always loved going to her house to spend time with her, my "twin" Mimi, and the rest of our family, both here in VA as a young child, and up in Boston as a teenager and adult. Her wit and sarcasm never failed to have me in stitches. Her absolute love for her family runs deep, and will be felt for generations to come!
We love you guys, and dearly wish we could be with you to celebrate her amazing life! You are all in our thoughts always!
Love you,
Kristi, Charlie & Rhonda
