Cyrus John Parastar, 79, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 3, 2025. He was born on December 19, 1945, in Tehran, Iran, to the late Feraidoon Parastar and Dolet Farhmand.
Cyrus was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Gilberte Brashear, on March 18, 1978, in Jefferson City, Missouri. Together, they shared a loving and supportive partnership for nearly five decades.
A man of intellect and ambition, Cyrus received his high school diploma in Iran before pursuing his education at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business and a Master's in Economics. He worked at Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 2009.
Cyrus had a variety of passions. He loved to travel and explore new places, yet he was equally content enjoying quiet moments at home. An avid fan of sports, he enjoyed attending ball games and following other athletic events. In his downtime, he was often found playing backgammon on his iPad, a game he loved. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
He is survived by his wife, Gilberte Parastar; his son, Cyrus (Candace) Parastar; his brother, Mike (Susan) Parastar; and his grandchildren, Kara Parastar and Korbyn Parastar.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in Longview Cemetery, located at 204 Scotts Station Road, Jefferson City, MO, 65109.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Proto-Cathedral of St. Peter.
Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 W. Main St.; Jefferson City, MO 65109. (573) 636-3838. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.millardfamilychapels.com
