D Roger Bennett was born on September 1, 1932 in Magrath, Alberta Canada to LaMar and Bertha Bennett. Roger grew up in Magrath, spending his childhood as a true farm boy-milking cows, riding horses and delivering newspapers.
Roger attended BYU where he earned a Bachelors degree in Mathematics in 1957 and went on to work as an Engineer. Roger married Jeanne Noble on April 5, 1956. Together they had one daughter, JoLynn. Roger and Jeanne divorced in 1968. Roger later met the love of his life, Janice Claire Ensign and they were sealed in the Los Angeles temple on November 20, 1971. Janice had 3 sons Robert, Jerald and Douglas whom Roger lovingly adopted. Roger and Janice experienced the loss of a stillborn daughter, Shauna, and later welcomed a daughter together, Cyndee. Together with their children, Roger and Janice made their home in Glendale, CA before relocating to Logan, UT where they spent 28 wonderful years together.
After Janice’s passing in 2020, Roger moved to live with his granddaughter, Melissa Funk. Roger was known for his kindness, his love of service and his joy in working outdoors. His family and friends will fondly remember his famous homemade caramels, a cherished tradition that brought sweetness to many.
Roger passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. His legacy of faith, service and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who knew him. Roger is survived by his children; JoLynn Blood, Robert (Bridget) Bennett, Jerry Bennett, Doug (Kim) Bennett, Cyndee (Jeanne Barton) Bennett, 11 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the LDS Church at 325 Lauralin Drive in Logan. A viewing will precede the funeral from 9:30-10:30.
