Dale Leroy Adams passed away on October 4, 2023 in Palmer, Alaska surrounded by his family. Dale was born on January 31, 1938 in Fort Fairfield, Maine to Beecher and Florence (Amsden) Adams. He attended Fort Fairfield High School and joined the Army when he was only 17 years old. After meeting his wife Juem (Susie) in Korea, he spent time in France and Germany. Dale also spent 3 tours in Vietnam, and retired after serving 20 years in the Army. He was on the Houston, Alaska city council for 12 years with 6 of those years as mayor of Houston. He was part of the Houston Volunteer Fire Department for 14 years. Dale and Susie owned Adams Sewing and Vacuum Center in Wasilla, Alaska. He also served in the Alaska State Defense Force for 15 years. Dale's wife, Susie, passed away on September 11, 2023. They were married for 63 years. He is survived by three daughters, Jeannie Miller of Spokane, Washington; Tammy Bennett of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; and Patricia Bennett of San Antonio, Texas and one son, Randy Bitney of Houston, Texas. Dale has 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He loved his family, fishing, and hiking. His burial will be held at Fort Richardson National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. A memorial service will be held at Big Lake Baptist Church on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Disabled American Veterans organization would be appreciated.
