Dale "Bales" Russel Bailey

Dale "Bales" Bailey died peacefully in his home March 19, 2024, held by his wife, and surrounded by his children and family after suffering from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis lung disease. 

Dale was born on November 24, 1948, to Earl and Edna (Guymon) Bailey and raised in Bountiful, Utah. 

He graduated from Viewmont High School in 1967 and then served an LDS Mission in the Southwest Indian Navajo Mission. 

He married his beloved wife, Anne Iversen, in Sept. 1970. They were married 53 years at the time of his death. Together they had four children and four grandchildren. 

Dale worked at the University of Utah for 11 years. Following, he completed an electrician's apprenticeship with the Union Pacific Railroad where he then worked for over 10 years. He later retired from the Salt Lake City Intl. Airport having worked there 24 years. 

Dale enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years and enjoyed the memories he had of many hunting trips with the Bailey and Guymon families. 

Dale was an avid bowler, bowling seven perfect 300 bowling games, one 299, two 298's and everything in between, including many 700 series. He was a member of the American/United States Bowling Congress, Utah Men's Bowling Association, and bowled for many, many years in the Union Pacific Bowling and Salt Lake Masters Leagues. He was also a member of the Salt Lake City Men's Bowling Association and held many positions, including President. He bowled at every Salt Lake Valley bowling alley and then some, with Ritz Classic Lanes being where he called home. He bowled in 22 national tournaments. 

Dale loved NASCAR and racing and enjoyed many years at Bonneville Raceway. He loved watching sports. He played softball for many years on the Union Pacific Men's and SLC Corp. Intl. Airport teams. 

He had a great sense of humor, loved to tell stories, share memories, and make people laugh with his "Daleisms". 

He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Edna, and brothers Edgel and Ray. He is survived by his wife, Anne and four children Stacy (Jim), Travis (Kathy), Tina (Doug) and Kristin, and grandchildren Tarah (Josh), Taylor, Kaden and Annika, and bonus grandchildren Tristan and Alan. 

Services will all be held at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary located at 3115 East Bengal Boulevard (7800 South). An evening viewing will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM with a one hour viewing to be held at 10:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service at the Memorial Mountain View Cemetery.
