Dale Petty Bessent

Dale Petty Bessent, age 68, of Fort Mill, SC, passed away on Friday, October 25th, 2024, at Atrium Main.The family is hosting a celebration of life at 2:00 p.m. on November 3rd, 2024, at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill, SC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.Born in Spartanburg SC, she was the daughter of the late Francis Earl Petty and Dorothy Ivey Petty. Dale knew from an early age that she wanted to do three things in life: be a school teacher; be a mother; and be a grandmother, and excelled at all three during her lifetime. She attended Clemson University and graduated from the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg with a degree in education. She was a teacher for 28 years at Pacolet Middle School and E.P. Todd Elementary and was able to teach at the same elementary school she attended as a child. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she assisted with the childrens choir and Vacation Bible School. Dale enjoyed needlepoint, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Ken Bessent; her children: Kelly King (Sam) of Charlotte, NC and Kevin Bessent (Laura) of Beaufort, SC; sister, Patricia Fahner (Mark), of Myrtle Beach, SC; four grandchildren, Jack King, Charlotte King, and Jon Miles King of Charlotte, NC and Kai Bessent, of Beaufort, SC; brother-in-law Brad Bessent (Mitzi) of Greenville, SC; and a special cousin: Sammy Clark (Doris) of Boiling Springs, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and canine companion, Barkley.
