Dale Irvin Moore, age 78 of Salem, passed away December 22, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Dale was born January 12, 1947, in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of Howard and Clara Ann (Purkhiser) Moore. He was a member of Smedley church of Christ, serving as a deacon and then an elder. Dale graduated from Salem High School, Class of 1965, and Purdue University, Class of 1969, with a Bachelor’s in Ag Econ. After working for Hamilton County Farm Bureau Co-op and Washington County Farm Bureau Co-op, Dale began self-employed farming in the early 1970’s, raising crops, feeding cattle and, for a time, finishing hogs. He shared his love for farming, nature and his community with his children and grandchildren.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Pamela (Walton) Moore. He is also survived by his children: Holly (Kurt) Winkel of Georgetown, Indiana; Todd (Erin) Moore of Salem, Indiana; Kelly (Dan) Duncan of Milford, Indiana. Grandchildren: Seth (Alaina) Goode, Nicholas Winkel, Jay Duncan, Madelyn Moore, Evelyn Duncan and Caris Moore. Brother: Dr. Benny (Kathy) Moore of Salem, Indiana. Brother-in-law: Mike Bunal of Dandridge, Tennessee, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Suzanne (Moore) Bunal.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 2pm at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11am, prior to Services. Burial will take place in Crown Hill Cemetery, Salem, Indiana.
