Dan John McGillivray, 81 of Midland, went home to be with Jesus on August 14, 2025. He was born to the late William Anthony and Marian Jewell (Prout) McGillivray on May 31, 1944 in Key West, Florida. Dan married the love of his life Deborah Ruth Lynn on August 14th, 1994 and they shared 31 loving years together.

Dan was an avid reader and he especially loved to read and study his Bible. He also enjoyed drawing, playing games with his family as well as doing puzzles. He loved his church family and church ministry, he was a bus captain, worked Men's prayer breakfast, and was a soul winner. He enjoyed going for walks, riding bikes and enjoying nature and also any quality time with his wife. He valued all of his children and grandchildren.

Dan received his associates degree from Delta College, he worked for Dow Chemical Company for 30 years, retiring in 1996.

Dan is survived by his wife; Deborah McGillivray, children; Charmagne (Dinesh) Kaushal, Dennis (Michelle) Wiles, Denise Wiles (Jeff Miller), Dena Rouse. He has 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister Patsy McGillivray and Niece Holly McGillivray.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grand daughter Arianna McGillivray, grandson Anthony Taylor Wiles, his son Dane McGillivray, daughter Deanna (Anna)Klann.

A funeral service will be at 11:00am on August 21, 2025 at Midland Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Payne officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00pm – 7:00pm on August 20, 2025 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home and at the church the next morning from 10:00am until time of service. A graveside service will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in Auburn immediately after the church service.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider My Michigan hospice.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Jesecca, Lori, Wendi, Jackie, and Matthew. As well as the other members of the hospice team.
