Dan Scott Proctor

Dan Scott Proctor, age 79, of Marquette, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025 at Eastwood Nursing Center after a long struggle with Alzheimers.
Dan was born on October 29, 1946 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, the son of Joe and Phyllis (Rutledge) Proctor. He attended the University of Michigan, where he earned his dental degree. It was also in Ann Arbor where he met his future wife of 53 years, Marilyn (Huey) Proctor.
Dan loved life, family and U of M. After leaving Ann Arbor, he spent the next 40 years in Saginaw, Michigan practicing dentistry and raising two children: Courtney (of Marquette, Michigan) and Scott (of Elgin, Texas). Dan enjoyed camping and skiing with friends and family, and always made time to return to his alma mater for football games.
Retirement brought Dan, Marilyn and their Newfie Sadie to their log cabin in the woods outside of Marquette. There they were able to spend time with friends and family, enjoy the natural beauty of the U.P. and spend quiet afternoons on their deck taking in the view of Lake Superior. For ten summers they made wonderful memories traveling to Camp Michigania with their grandchildren, Ona and Ari Dalman. They also frequently traveled to Texas to spend precious time with Scott, Rebeca and newest additions to the the family: Finley and Huey Proctor.
Dan was a devoted husband, father and brother. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, his two children Courtney and Scott, his grandchildren Ona, Ari, Finley and Huey, his sister Wendy (Robert) Boes and niece and nephews Lindsay, Jonathan, Chris and Bob.
Per Dan's wishes, no formal services will be held.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the sta at Eastwood Nursing Home and to U.P. Home Health and Hospice for the compassion they gave to Dan and his family while in their care.
So let the tears fall when they come.
Let the laughter rise when memories bring warmth.
Let grief and joy coexist
For they are not opposites.
They are just love in di erent forms
