David Harry Carney

David Harry Carney passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's-like Disease. Born on June 23, 1947, in Flint, Michigan, he lived a full and vibrant life, reaching the age of 78.

David Graduated from the University of Michigan with a Batchelor's degree in Engineering, followed by a Master's dregee in Business. He was a man of extraordinary talent and kindness, whose warmth and dedication left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Throughout his career, David successfully founded, operated, and sold several companies within the healthcare industry, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and drive.

His passions extended beyond his professional life. David was an avid runner and biker, finding joy in staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He loved the outdoors, whether in the wilderness, walking or cycling in the neighborhood, or dining al fresco. David also had a knack for creativity, often immersing himself in home projects. He cherished the years he spent with his wife, family and friends in Nantucket, which was always his happy place. He was a massive supporter of his alma mater, the University of Michigan. David had many special dogs, who he loved and could always be seen running, walking or throwing the ball with them. Above all, David cherished his family and friends, always placing them at the center of his life.

David was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Dale Francis Carney and Vera Barnes Carney, as well as his treasured in-laws, William David Angst and Margery Bursley Angst, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Margery Angst Carney, who stood by his side with unwavering love and support. David's legacy continues through his children: his son Spencer Carney and his wife Susan, along with their children Daley and Cormac; and his daughter Bliss Darragh and her husband Jordan, together with their children Caden and Brody. David also leaves behind his sister, Michelle Carney O'Brien, and his brother, Douglas Carney, who will all remember him with deep affection.

A family service to honor David's life will be held in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at a later date.

David was a phenomenal person, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, businessman, and friend. He leaves a legacy in all these roles and a positive imprint on the lives of many. He will be greatly missed, but his memory and influence will remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
