Earcel Proctor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. - Charlotte Hall on Dec. 29, 2025.
Earcel Gene Proctor, of Hughesville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, at Hospice of St. Mary's. He was 94 years old.

Gene was born in North Carolina on July 14, 1931, to Elmer and Selma Proctor. A lifelong learner, he earned a Master's Degree and went on to dedicate his professional career to public service, working for the United States Government in Occupational Health.

On November 1, 1958, Gene married the love of his life, Loretta Ruth Proctor. Together they raised two sons and two daughters. Family was the center of Gene's world, and he took great pride in being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Gene had many interests and talents. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, real estate, tennis, gardening, mechanics, photography, and spending time outdoors. Whether working with his hands, capturing moments through a camera lens, or simply enjoying time with loved ones, Gene approached life with curiosity, dedication, and warmth.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Loretta Proctor; his sons, Bruce Proctor and David Proctor (Deneane); his daughters, Lauren Petersen (Jim Michaels) and Jeannie Proctor; and his grandchildren, Kelly, Shannon, Ryan, Kyle, Carly, and Greg Proctor, and Jami and Westley Petersen. He is also survived by six wonderful great-grandchildren, who along with the rest of his family brought him immense joy and happiness.

Gene is further survived by his brother, Willis Proctor (Janie); his sister, Lina Ruth Morgan; and his sister-in-law, Deedie Mae Proctor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Selma Proctor; his brothers, Vance Proctor (Polly) and E. J. Proctor; his sister, Marjorie Wilkerson (William); and his brother-in-law, Preston Morgan.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gene's life on January 7, 2026, at Brinsfield Funeral Home, located at 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, Maryland. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place afterward at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman–Beantown Road, Waldorf.

Gene's legacy of love, service, and devotion to family will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
