Dan Ervin Sabota, 83, of Woburn, MA (formerly of Belmont, MA), passed away on January 4, 2023 after a long illness. He was the beloved long time companion of Wynelle Hummel and father to his daughters Joy Sabota and her husband Stephen Butman of Venice, FL, Jill Sabota of Fort Pierce, FL, and Julie Sabota of Duxbury, MA. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Jessica Ward, Kyle Ward and Colton Morris.
Dan was born on November 6, 1939 in Middletown, OH. After High School he enlisted in the United States Air Force for 4 years and served as a military police officer. He was stationed in Iceland, Hanscom Air Force Base and Otis Air Force Base.
He married Joan Eadie of Belmont where they settled as a family, and spent many summers in Gloucester, MA and Cape Cod.
He held many different jobs which reflected his passions for fixing, building, tinkering, restoring, collecting and selling.
"Dan the Man" as he was known to friends and family always stepped up to take on any task for those who asked. He was gentle, humble, social and giving. His daughters were his pride and joy.
He was past Commanding Captain of the Lexington Minutemen for years, active in Scouting, and enjoyed fishing, sailing, travel, yard sales and antiques. He left an indelible mark on all those he touched.

I went to school and was in the Boy Scouts with him. Unfortunately we had not seen each other in 66 years. I have many good memories of him.

Dan was always a great man to all those that had the pleasure to have known him. He was a great Father, Grandfather, and friend to all. He will be missed but "still lives on" in all that had the pleasure to have known him. Love you RIP Dan - - Hope the fishing is good up there!
