Dan Glenn Sanderson, age 87, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home and woke up in the loving arms of his Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. He was born December 14, 1938, the youngest son of Leron and Anna Mae Sanderson of Brownwood, Texas, where he roved the countryside hunting and fishing. He graduated from Bangs High School in 1957 and moved to Roswell, New Mexico to begin his 19-year career with International Harvester. On June 27,1959, he married Barbara, the love of his life and his wife of 66 years in Brownwood, and they started their new adventure-filled life together in New Mexico. Along with each transfer to Amarillo, Portland, Oregon, Burleson and finally Plano, Dan and Barbara used the opportunity to completely explore everything the regions had to offer. In 1977, Dan decided to use his experience with International Harvester to settle in Arlington, Texas, and to fulfill his dream of opening his own lawn and garden store.
Dan loved traveling, photography, and learning new things, but above all, Dan cherished the time with his family and friends. At any given moment, he had a story to tell, a hearty laugh to share, and a joy in his heart. He touched many lives and he continued to nurture those friendships throughout his life. He was a member of Tate Springs Baptist Church and member of the Masonic Lodge for over 58 years as a Master Mason (3rd Degree) with two current affiliations at the Webb and Burleson Masonic Lodges.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Barbara of Arlington, Texas, son Brent Sanderson and wife Janie of Arlington, daughter Theresa Stout and husband Matthew of Rockport, Texas, grandsons Brandon Sanderson and Jake Sanderson of Mansfield, Texas, Will Mosteiro of Burleson, Texas, and granddaughter Samantha Brown of Euless, Texas.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his two brothers, James “Jim” Sanderson of Brownwood and Lee Sanderson of Lubbock, Texas, and his nephew, Mark Sanderson, of Lubbock.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 6 – 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, and the following day for a service to celebrate Dan’s 87 years of life on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with a reception immediately following. Both will be held at Wade Funeral Home in Arlington with the graveside service at Hawkins Cemetery in Arlington at 1:00 p.m.
