Dan Edward Smith

Dan Edward Smith, 72, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully at home on December 20, 2025 surrounded by family.

He was born in Williamsport on January 8, 1953, a son to the late Preston H. and Gertrude (Lehman) Smith.

Dan was a member of St. Boniface and was a graduate of Williamsport High School and the former W.A.C.C., now Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Dan began his 53 year career as the owner and operator of The Smith Printing Company, a local business that was in his family for several generations. Later he served as bookkeeper and administrator for multiple companies including Mallalieu-Golder Insurance Agency, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, and Real IT Care, LLC.

Dan was a dual member of Masonic Lodges, Eureka Lodge No. 335, Montoursville and LaBelle Vallee Lodge No. 232, Jersey Shore. Dan held several offices in Eureka Lodge serving as Worshipful Master in 1995, Treasurer from 1996 through 1998 and Secretary from 1999 to 2015.

Dan was a member of the Valley of Williamsport Scottish Rite and received the highest honor of that organization by being coroneted a 33rd Degree Mason in Philadelphia in 2010.

Dan enjoyed fly fishing, model airplanes, and he dabbled in computers in his free time.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, the former Marilyn Engel.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by their children Rochelle (Jake) Smith Scudder, Madalyn (Brandon) Smith Dunkleberger, Kevin M. (Isabel Sanchez) Smith; grandchildren Kate I. Smith, Jaxon J. Dunkleberger, Maverick Dunkleberger, Jeweleen Dunkleberger, Paulina Ortega, Dehring Scudder, and Gant Scudder; as well as sister Sally Smith Hampton.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents Preston and Gertrude Smith, as well as sister Katherine Smith Schultz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday Dec. 30, 2025 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd., Williamsport PA 17701.

The family will receive friends and family at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E Third St., Williamsport PA 17701 from 6-8pm on Monday, Dec. 29, 2025.
