Dana Carl Gavenda
Rochester, NY – Passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025 at age 74, from a rare form of Alzheimer's Disease. Dana was predeceased by his parents, Carl Gavenda and Helen Soule Babcock; and his nephew, Matthew Gardner. Survived by wife of 53 years, Cheryl (Depczynski); daughter, Molly Dana (Josh) Chmiel; and beloved granddaughter, Madelyn Rose. Also survived by his siblings, Laurie (Karen Hess) Gavenda, John (Sharon) Gavenda, Jackie (Mark) Dunham and Gregory Babcock; brother-in-law, Dennis Depczynski (Lois Elliott); and several nieces and nephews.
Dana had a distinguished career in banking that spanned over 40 years in several different positions. In 2001 he came into his dream job as bank president of Fairport Savings and Loan. He retired from that position in 2018.
For over 20 years Dana was a much-loved girls' soccer coach in Irondequoit and Brighton. He loved taking part in all the tournaments and enjoyed teaching the girls good sportsmanship and self-confidence.
