Dana Mauro, 36, of Rocky Hill, passed away May 29, 2024 in Brooklyn, NY, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Hartford, son of Ted and Joyce (Haydasz) Mauro, and raised in Wethersfield. Dana was a graduate of Wethersfield High School, where he was elected "best sense of humor", and earned his Bachelor's Degree at Babson College in Wellesley, MA. Dana was a two-time All-State basketball player at Wethersfield, before continuing his career at Babson.
He was a skilled salesman, flourishing in both the insurance and communications fields, earning top sales awards with Verizon Wireless, which prompted his promotion to a management position. He most recently worked as a sales rep for Builders Hardware in West Hartford, CT.
Along with his parents, Dana leaves his brothers, Jesse Mauro of Brooklyn, NY and Luke Mauro of Houston, TX, his grandmother Barbara Haydasz of Rocky Hill, as well as uncles, aunts, numerous cousins and countless friends. He was often the biggest guy in the room, which was only topped by his even bigger personality. Forever benevolent, Dana was always able to develop friendships anywhere he went, striving to put a smile on the faces of everyone he met. His love of making others laugh was matched by his desire to be DJ of any get together, securing a good time for all.
He was a kind-hearted soul who always looked out for his family. An avid fan of sports, music and comedy, Dana had a distinctive infectious laugh that you could hear across a crowded room years from now and know it was his. He loved, laughed and lived, smiling to the very end. Dana will be sorely missed by all, but will continue to live on in the memories of many fun times.
Friends may call on Friday June 7, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Dana's life will be held on Saturday June 8, 2024 at 11:00 in the Church of the Incarnation of Christ the King Parish, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield.
