Daniel Ernest Abrams, affectionately known as "Wolfman Dan," of Dimondale, MI, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on April 5, 1954, in Owosso, MI, Dan was the son of William Abrams, Sr. and Wilma Ardene (Nourse) Abrams. Dan graduated from Morrice High School in 1972 before proudly serving in the United States Navy as a Radioman during the Vietnam War, stationed in Ethiopia. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Michigan and began his career as a corrections officer. Over the years, Dan rose through the ranks, ultimately retiring in 2006 as an administrator and grievance coordinator at the St. Louis Correctional Facility.
A devoted family man, Dan cherished time spent with his children and community. Summers found him umpiring or coaching baseball games, falls coaching football, and throughout the years, cheering from the stands at his children's sporting events. Known and loved by the neighborhood kids in Webberville, where he raised his family, Dan's playful side shone through in bottle rocket battles and games of war in the woods. Dan had a sharp sense of humor, sometimes with an inappropriate edge, and was the essence of professionalism during the workweek. However, after hours and on weekends, he enjoyed relaxing with family and friends, indulging in life's simple pleasures, including his appreciation for cannabis. He was also a lifelong Detroit Lions fan, faithfully cheering for his team through thick and thin.
Dan is preceded in death by his father, William Abrams, Sr.; his mother and stepfather, Wilma and Leo Chubb.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen (Kendall) Abrams; children, Kandice Abrams and Bradley Abrams; grandchildren, Tavyn Abrams, Brittany Hardy, Norman Hardy, Wyatt Baier, Justin Hardy, Darrin Abrams, Shyanne Abrams, and Shaylynn Abrams; brothers, Jack (Suzanne) Wood and William (Lillian) Abrams, Jr.; as well as numerous step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished friends.
A celebration of Dan's life will be held in the spring of 2025. To share memories or leave online condolences, please visit www.SkinnerFuneralHomes.com.
