Daniel W. Beecher, 78, of Danvers, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late William S. 'Bill' Beecher and Alice (Waldstein) Beecher.
For 45 years, Dan owned and operated Northshore Carpet in Beverly. He was known for his exceptional work ethic and took great pride in fulfilling his promise of customer satisfaction. A perfectionist at heart, he always went the extra mile to ensure every detail was just right. Whether in business or in his personal life, Dan was dedicated to helping people and solving problems. Customers and coworkers alike knew they could rely on him for honest advice, a listening ear, and practical solutions; his business partners were also some of his closest friends, with many lasting relationships formed over the decades. He will be deeply missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
Dan was raised in Woburn, Massachusetts, and was a proud member of the Woburn High School Class of 1965. A second generation United States Marine and Vietnam veteran, he earned two Purple Hearts for his service. During his time in Vietnam, his mother, Alice, wrote to him every day, and he carried that love with him always, even in his tattoos, one reading "Mother" and the other "USMC". Over the years, he enjoyed running, weight training, and long distance biking along the Northshore coast, and he carried that dedication to fitness throughout his entire life. He loved the United States Marine Corps and remained committed to a lifestyle of staying fit, eating healthy, increasing his knowledge, and living a disciplined life. Much of that discipline and work ethic came from his father, William S. 'Bill' Beecher, a World War II United States Marine veteran who taught him the value of hard work and the quiet satisfaction that comes from tending a garden, from nurturing life from seed to the rewards of harvest.
Dan was an avid Boston sports fan and had season tickets to the old school Celtics throughout the 1980s. His dogs meant the world to him. For many years, Jake and Jag were his loyal companions. In his final months, his new puppy Jaz was never far from his side. We are honored to say that he entrusted Jaz to his best friend, Gary Powers.
He also loved listening to good tunes of all genres and texting them to his family and friends so they could experience the same uplifting mood the music created. Dan enjoyed nature and gardening, and he found joy in the simple beauties of the world around him, like butterflies, flowers, sunrises, sunsets, and just the feeling of the warm sun on his face. He treasured his time on the Northshore, especially when the sun was shining and the ocean was at his doorstep.
Dan was a beacon of hope, guidance, and wisdom to his three children. He was their biggest fan, cheering them on in every endeavor, and never missed an opportunity to support their activities, whether it was attending their games, celebrating their graduations, or coaching his son's Little League team. Even though he was sometimes a man of few words, when he did speak, his words were thoughtful and often profound. He believed deeply in the values of hard work, effort, and accomplishment, taking pride in everything he did. He taught his children, whom he deeply admired, qualities like hard work, honesty, courage, healthy living, teamwork, and the belief that any job worth doing was worth doing right. He would often honor these traits with a favorite saying he learned in the United States Marine Corps, "Squared Away!"
Dan is survived by his son, William S. 'Will' Beecher, and his wife, Babs Beecher, of New Mexico; his two daughters, Christina Beecher of Woburn, and Kim Ebrahimi and her husband, Dr. Hami Ebrahimi, of California; his former wife, Marion Beecher; and his grandchildren, Christina Dabrieo and her husband, Robert Dabrieo, Hayli Beecher, Brielle Beecher, Brody Daniel Beecher, Maci Lynn Beecher, as well as great-grandchildren Rocco Dabrieo and Kamrynn Dabrieo. He also leaves his siblings, Kathleen Parsons and her late husband, Robert Parsons; Madeliene Beecher Davies; Chrissy Ratliff and her partner Buzz Spence; and Nandi Kim. He was predeceased by his siblings Russell Beecher and Jennifer Beecher, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
