Daniel Bittner, 96, of Manasquan, NJ, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on December 27, 2024. Daniel was born in Pennsylvania but proudly called the Shore his home for most of his life, having lived in the area for over 70 years. He graduated from Manasquan High School in 1954 and continued to cheer for his Warriors up until his passing. Daniel bravely served his country in the Navy for 16 years, including active duty during the Korean War.
Daniel was a proud and dedicated member of the community. He was a participant in local organizations, including the Ocean County Ski Club, the Manasquan Elks, and the Neptune Soccer Association, of which he was a founding member. He was a Neptune City Boy Scout Leader, a member of the Neptune City Board Of Education, and served on the Neptune City Juvenile Board. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Daniel truly enjoyed worshipping at Manasquan Presbyterian Church, he even sang in the Church choir this past Christmas Eve. He was passionate about skiing and continued to ski into his 90's. Daniel also had a love for horse racing and enjoyed spending time at the racetrack. In his later years, Daniel loved to travel visiting various countries in Europe.
Daniel is predeceased by his loving wife, Marilyn Bittner. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Rolf. He is also survived by his daughter, Virginia Susan Bittner; sons, Karl Thomas Bittner (Donna) and Frank Clifford Bittner (Judith). Daniel leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Jassen, Sam (Sally), Rebecka (Billy), Danny, Christin, Anna (Doug), and Cliff. Additionally, he will be fondly remembered by his great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Maximus, Reagan, Alianna, Emma, Libby, Potter, Molly, and Sarah.

Very sorry to read about the loss of your dad. I have many good memories of weekend ski trips up to Vermont with your family many years back. . Chris Marchgraber

"I enjoyed Dan's company and that of his family. His longevity of 96 years is inspiring to me. He was able to enjoy a few years with his cat, Charlie, he and Marilyn adopted from my feral momma. It was comforting somehow for me to have him as a constant in Manasquan. It seemed Dan would always be there. My sympathy as the family and friends grieve at this sad time. My thoughts are with you. Cynthia"
