Daniel "Boone" Bishop, 89, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025. Born in Lexington on July 8, 1936, he was the son of the late Tom and Allie Mae Bishop.

Boone proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1958 during the Korean War era, receiving his honorable discharge in 1958. He went on to dedicate his career to the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, retiring in 1990 as Supervisor of Streets & Roads after many years of service.

In 1959, Boone married the love of his life, Irene Bishop, and together they shared 66 years of marriage. He is survived by his devoted wife; their son, Daniel Bishop Jr., and his wife Cindy; and daughters, Debra Beckham and Darlene Miller. Boone's legacy of love continues through his five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

"He was preceded in death by all his brothers and sisters, and his grandson Timmy."

Boone will be remembered for his quick wit, love of music, and undeniable charm. His sense of humor could light up a room, and he brought joy to those around him in ways that will be deeply missed.

A Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Kerr Brothers-Harrodsburg Road. Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at the Hillcrest Memorial Park.
