Dr. Daniel "Dan" Brandvold, a man of robust faith and infectious humor, was called home on August 2, 2025, at the age of 64, in Eagle River, AK. His departure followed a valiant battle with cancer, yet through his struggles, Dan's spirit remained as indomitable as the Alaskan mountains he cherished.

Born on August 23, 1960, in Cutbank, Montana, to loving parents Patricia and Clancy Brandvold, Dan's early years were steeped in the values of family and community, a foundation that would guide him throughout his life. In 1986, he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic from the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic's, a testament to his dedication and passion for healing others.

For nearly four decades, Dr. Brandvold ran a private practice where his doors were always open, especially to those who served. His policy of never charging first responders, military personnel, as well as fire and police officers for care not covered by their insurance was a hallmark of his generous spirit and his commitment to 'love thy neighbor.'

Dan's Christian faith was the bedrock of his existence, and he lived it with the same gusto with which he approached his outdoor adventures. His life was a sermon of actions, showing us all how to climb the rockiest of paths with grace and how to slide down the slopes of life with joy and abandon.

Survived by his devoted wife Barb, his sons Jake (with wife Tammy) and Zach (with wife Anita), his six beloved grandchildren known to him as their "Bear Killing PaPa", his siblings Teri Doering and Tim Brandvold, his faithful pups Kenai and Sitka, and Dan's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the occasional well-timed jest.

An Alaskan man through and through, Dan thrived in the wild, his soul resonating with the call of the mountains. He was an avid rock climber, ice climber, and snowboarder, each activity a dance with nature that he performed with skill and a touch of showmanship. His spirit soared as high as the peaks he scaled, and his enthusiasm for training upland bird hunting dogs was matched only by his precision in archery. Yet, it was his penchant for good-natured ribbing that truly endeared him to all. Dan never missed an opportunity to leave his friends laughing, ensuring that every memory of him would bring a smile as wide as the Alaskan sky.

Describing Dan as adventurous, faith-filled, and spirited barely scratches the surface of a man whose life was a vibrant tapestry of devotion, community service, and unbridled joy. He walked through this world as a beacon of light, guiding others with a joke always at the ready and a helping hand extended in earnest.

As we bid farewell to Dr. Daniel "Dan" Brandvold, we do so with hearts full of gratitude for the time we shared with this extraordinary man. His laughter echoes in the winds, his love remains nestled in the embrace of his family, and his spirit continues to climb, ever upward, into the embrace of the Lord he so faithfully served.

When asked what his greatest achievement was in all of the things he excelled in his answer never wavered "My sons Jake and Zach. Everything else pales in comparison".

Dan's family would like to publicly commend the staff of Providence Palliative Care services and Providence Home Hospice for their compassionate care during this past year, as well as for their ongoing infectious bantering humor that kept him looking forward to the next visit. True angels were looking over him and his loving wife here on earth and guiding with such grace and love.

Dan has requested no public memorial service but is anticipating a "Valhalla send off in Viking style" by his "Brothers". He has put aside a bail fund just for this :)

One of Dan's favorite quotes:

"Show me that the good life doesn't exist in length, but in its use, and that it is possible- no, entirely too common- for a person who has had a long life to have lived so little".

- Seneca, Moral Letters, 49.10b

Rest well Dan, until we meet again in Valhalla.
