Daniel Ray Bussard, Sr., 75, of Cumberland, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at his home.
Born May 27, 1950, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Herman Edward and Grace Elizabeth (Park) Bussard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nephew, Gilbert "Butch" Warnick; and niece, Samantha Purbaugh.
Dan was a graduate of Fort Hill High School class of 1968. Following high school, Dan served his country in the United States Army. After being discharged from the Army, Dan was employed as a brakeman and engineer with CSX Transportation Company.
Dan was a hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the American Legion Cumberland Post 13, a life member of the Vietnam Veterans Association, life member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club, life member of the Ft. Hill Rifle and Pistol Club, Cresaptown Eagles, Cumberland Democrat Club and the Cumberland Bow Hunter Club. Dan enjoyed shooting Archery with his friends Rick, Craig and Tony.
Daniel is survived by his children, Daniel R. Bussard, Jr. and wife Vicki, Scott Bussard,and Tammy Miller and husband Darren; grandchildren, Emily, Jacob and Mason; sister, Connie Warnick; brother, Samuel Bussard; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friends, Bob Lemmert and his wife, Craig Drennon, Rick Wills, Johnny Finzel, Pottsy, Ron Kifer, Bill See, and Tony Tazza.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Sunday, January 4, 2025 from 2 to 5pm. A memorial service will immediately follow at 5pm with the Rev. Jim Jeffries officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Fort Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.
Inurnment will be held privately in the MD State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap.
