Daniel D. Capone, 87, of Holiday City - Berkeley, died Thursday, January 30, 2025, at home. Born in Plainfield, he had lived in Flemington for 30 years before moving to Berkeley Twp. in 2003. He had worked in sales for Elizabethtown Gas in Flemington & Phillipsburg for 36 years before retiring in 1995. He was a veteran of the US Navy, was an usher for St. Magdelene Church in Flemington, and attended mass at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church. Daniel loved the NY Giants; was a past president of the Italian American Club – Hunterdon County, past president of Exchange Club – Flemington, and Pop Warner Football Commissioner & Coach – Flemington. He coached Little League, Little Bigger League, CYO Basketball, & wrestling. Daniel, "known as Max" was an outfielder for the Elizabethtown Gas softball team, and a member of The Old Guards – Forked River. Daniel is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lillian; sons: Jeffrey & Karen Capone, and Dan Capone & Laura McLaughlin; daughter, Karen & George Lauck; his 11 grandchildren whom referred to him as "Pop Pop," Dana, Kayla, Nicole, Matt, Kyle, Anthony, Tristen, Danielle, Joseph, Natalie, & Allie; and his 6 great grandchildren: Cameryn, Lucy, Roman, Blaire, Brooke, & Jack. Visitation is Wednesday, 4-7pm, at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road, Manchester. Funeral Liturgy is Thursday, 10am, at St. Maximilian Church, Toms River, with interment to follow to Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Tunnel to Towers Foundation 2361 Hylan Blvd Staten Island, NY 10306.
