Daniel Elliott Collins passed away peacefully at his home on December 16, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him.
Daniel was a 2008 graduate of Brownsburg High School. He continued his education at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), where he earned a bachelor's degree in radiation therapy. Upon realizing that this profession was not his intended path, Daniel devoted himself to service-oriented work, contributing to several nonprofit organizations, including Indy Humane and Little Red Door.
Motivated by a profound compassion for both animals and children, Daniel pursued a career in education. He was deeply committed to supporting students with disabilities and took great pride in helping each student reach their fullest potential. Daniel was working toward his master's degree at Western Governors University, a goal he was unable to complete due to illness. He served part-time with the Avon School system, where he was affectionately known by his students as "Mr. E.".
Daniel is survived by his father Chris Collins; his sister, Angela Collins, also of Brownsburg; and his four beloved nieces and nephews. He is additionally survived by his grandfather, Thomas Cole of Seymour, Tennessee and his former spouse, David Elliott.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Anita Cole of Seymour, Tennessee, and Cedric and Freda Birt Collins of Greencastle, Indiana. Daniel has now welcomed his recently departed mother, Teresa Cole Kelso of Brownsburg, Indiana, who passed away on December 22, 2025, with open arms who left this world shortly after Daniel's passing.
Daniel will be remembered for the many close friendships he cherished throughout his life. He found joy in the outdoors, spending time with friends during movie nights, and traveling to the beach. His kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
