Daniel George Durning, IV, known affectionately to most as "Danny" passed away at the age of 54 on November 25, 2024 at Crozer Medical Center. Born on December 17, 1969 in Darby PA, Danny was a man who was known for his infectious smile and laughter that could fill a room. If you knew him you knew that he always had a story to tell.
Throughout his life, Danny's love for his family was paramount. He was a cherished son, brother, uncle, and partner. He is survived by his loving mother Patricia Durning, who was always a beacon of support and love throughout his life. Though predeceased by his father, Daniel George Durning, III the values instilled by both parents remained a guiding force for Danny all his life. Also survived by his sister Kelly Gardner (Dan), Brothers Michael, Scott (Tiffany), Matthew (Joy) who will fondly remember Danny as a brother who not only taught them almost everything that they know but was there when they needed a helping hand. Nieces and nephews, Michael Jr., Zachary, Trevor, Scotty, Gianna, Brittany, and Naomi. He was also survived by his loving girlfriend Tracey Westover.
Danny's early years were spent in the tight knit community of Briarcliffe where he attended Our Lady of Fatima Grade School, then Academy Park High School. Danny's passion for craftmanship later led him to follow in his father's footsteps and become a Union Carpenter with Local 845. His dedication in his craft was evident in his meticulous work.
Throughout his life Danny's love for his family was paramount. His affection for children was evident to all who knew him. Although he never had children of his own, there were many over the years who lovingly referred to him as "Pop". Danny loved music, spending time at the shore where he made many memories with family over the years. Danny loved to fish, and often found solace and joy in the gentle art of waiting for the catch, a metaphor for his patient approach to life. His love for the Philadelphia Eagles was more than that of just a fan, it was a part of his identity. On the night he passed he insisted on waiting until the game was over.
Danny's presence was a light in the lives of those around him, and his departure leaves a void that can never be filled. His legacy, however, will live on through the countless lives he touched, the work of his hands, and the memories he created with those he loved. Danny's laughter, kindness, and generous spirit will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we say goodbye to Daniel George Durning, IV. We celebrate a life lived not only with passion and love but on his terms. Danny was always a free spirit, his journey on this earth may have ended, but he will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. His spirit will always be a guiding light for those he left behind.
Family and friends are invited to Danny's visitation on Saturday December 7, 2024 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. A Prayer Service will begin at 2:00 pm. Danny's service will be followed by a luncheon, to be announced by family. Interment will be private.
