Daniel Langley Evans, 83, of Swoyersville, passed away on Saturday, August 30th, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Daniel was born in Forty Fort, on June 28th, 1942, son of the late Daniel Leroy and Phyllis Reba Link Evans.

He was a graduate of Forty Fort High School Class of 1960. After High School he served in the United States Army.

During his long career, Dan worked at many jobs. Most dear to him, were the years he spent in Radio Broadcasting. In addition to other radio stations, he was a beloved radio host on WVIA-FM, known especially for his work on two standout programs: "For the Folks Down Home" and "Swing Street Jazz."

He was a member of Forty Fort Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 122, Forty Fort United Methodist Church. He served on the History Committee for the Forty Fort Centennial.

He enjoyed reminiscing and storytelling of the history of Fort Forty, Swoyersville and the surrounding Wyoming Valley. He had a deep love of the people, places and events of the communities he lived in and was happy to share stories of how things once were.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Charmaine Evans, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and five loving dogs, Welsh Corgis, Gomer, Abbye, Nana and Morgan, and a mixed breed sweetheart, Zoey.

He is survived by several cousins.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hugh B. Hughes & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, Forty Fort.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, Dallas, PA.
