Daniel Evasink, age 83, of Barrington passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

Daniel was born in Chicago on February 27, 1941. Dan had a lifelong passion for the great outdoors. Whether he was hunting in the woods at sunrise, casting a line into a quiet lake, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature, he felt at peace under the open sky. He welcomed all invitations to tinker and could fix anything without fail. No plumber, electrician, or handyman ever entered his home until he was well into his later years, and even then, he offered his opinions and advice. He was loved for his encyclopedic knowledge on every topic, which made him the go-to answer man, offering elaborate responses to the most basic questions.

His adventurous spirit and career at United Airlines led him to travel to every continent (except Antarctica!), embracing different cultures and landscapes along the way. Yet no matter how far he roamed, home was always with his family.

Daniel is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Patricia (née Homuth); loving daughters, Susan (Matthew) Talbott and Amy (Tim) Evans; grandchildren Ivan, Elias, and Benjamin Talbott and Anna and Max Evans; sister Sharon (Dan) Rosin and nieces Carie (Jason) Bachman and Connie Kendall. He also leaves behind countless friends who will cherish his humor, companionship, and steadfast loyalty. His presence will be deeply missed, but his stories, lessons, laughter, and love will never fade.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Sue Evasink, sister Arlene, and grandson Henry.

An informal open house will be held on Saturday, March 1 from 2pm-4pm at Kelsey Road House, 352 Kelsey Rd, Lake Barrington, IL 60010.

Though he no longer walks beside us, he will forever be in the rustling leaves, the rippling water, and the whisper of the wind—always watching over the people he loved.
