Daniel Farrell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Phillips Funeral Home on Feb. 23, 2026.
Daniel Thomas Farrell, 82, of Eldon, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, in Eldon, just days before his 83rd birthday. He was born on February 24, 1943, in Cincinnati to Edith Clara (Threm) Farrell and Richard William Farrell. He was a brother to his sister, Diane (Farrell) Dresch. Dan proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, enlisting in May 1964. Over a distinguished 20-year career, he rose to the rank of Technical Sergeant before retiring in July 1984. His service took him around the world, including assignments in Okinawa, Japan (1966–1967); Scott Air Force Base, IL (1967–1971); He was also stationed at Pope Air Force Base, NC Chanute Air Force Base, IL where he served four years as a Master Instructor teaching aircraft hydraulic school; and as an Air Force recruiter in DeKalb, IL and Bitburg Air Force Base Germany for his final four years of service. While in Germany, Dan enjoyed working at the base wood hobby shop, further nurturing his lifelong love of woodworking. On December 23, 1964, Dan married Donna June (Geddes) Farrell. They shared 35 years of marriage until her passing on January 14, 2000. Together they raised two sons: Richard (Rick) William Farrell (born September 26, 1965) and James Andrew Farrell (born January 11, 1969). On August 4, 2000, Dan married Jettie Ann Jones (Morton) Farrell in Las Vegas. They remained devoted to one another until her passing on July 24, 2013. After retiring from the Air Force, Dan settled in Olean, Missouri. He attended Tri-County Technical School for two years, studying building trades and drafting, and won the Missouri State Drafting Competition in 1986. He worked for OP Hardwoods in Eldon before purchasing Trade-N-Place on Main Street in Eldon in 1996, where he became a familiar and friendly face in the community. Dan was a faithful member and Past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 7133. He was also a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution, reflecting his deep appreciation for history and heritage. Family was the cornerstone of Dan's life.

He is survived by his two sons: Richard Farrell and his wife Robin, and their daughters Erica and Alexa; and James Farrell and his sons Tanner, Zach, Caleb, and (James) JT. Dan was blessed with six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Krue and True, who brought him immense joy and pride. Dan's hobbies reflected his curiosity and craftsmanship. He loved woodworking, bowling, hunting, fishing, genealogy, and studying Civil War history. Whether crafting something with his hands, tracing family roots, or sharing stories from history, Dan found joy in learning and creating. He will be remembered for his steady strength, dedication to service, love of family, and the quiet kindness he showed to those around him.

In lieu of flowers, Dan requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.

On Friday February 27th, 2026, there will be a visitation where friends and family can pay their respects at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon, MO from 9:00am-11:00am. Immediately following there will be a graveside service at 11:30am with full Military Honors at the Allen Cemetery in Olean, MO.
