An enthusiastic sports fan, Dan loved discussing BGSU athletics, college football (Go Blue!), and cheering on the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, and Lions. An avid reader of historical non-fiction, Dan particularly enjoyed in-depth accounts historical events. He could also name nearly any classic film actor or actress and delighted friends and family with his clever wit in annual Christmas letters. An enthusiastic patron of the arts, he held season tickets for plays, musicals, symphonies, and operas in the Toledo area.
Dan had a deep love for national parks, often taking train trips out west to his favorite destinations, including Yellowstone, Zion, Bryce, the Grand Canyon, and the Badlands. He especially cherished making frequent trips with his girls to Walt Disney World.
Dan is survived by his two daughters, Debra (Paul) Messman and Beth (Craig) Corrigan.
