Daniel R. Gorny, age 84, of Millcreek Twp., passed away Friday, March 17, 2023 at LECOM Senior Living Center. He was born in Erie, June 1, 1938, a son of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Welka) Gorny.
Dan served with the U.S. Airforce during the Vietnam war. He had worked for Erie Strayer, National Control Scientific and retired from Lake Erie Electric. He was a Captain in the South Plattsburgh Fire Department. Daniel was a member of the Elks Lodge 67, St. Francis Ushers Club and enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, bowling and NASCAR.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Jerome and Paul Gorny; and a nephew Eric Vorse.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years Barbara (Wernicki) Gorny, a daughter, Theresa Ferrante (Ritchie) of Millcreek and a son, Timothy Gorny (Aubrey) of Firestone, CO., six grandchildren; Mario, Maria and Christopher Ferrante, Danyelle Fischer, Brandon and Marc Gorny, a sister, Carol Vorse (Charles) of McKean, and sisters-in-law Hedy Neal and Audrey Wenicki both of Erie, and his very good friends, Tom and Carol Eckert. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. Thursday from 12:00p.m. until time of services at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Shuffield of First Alliance Church officiating. Private burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be sent at www.bruggerfuneralhomes.com
