Daniel Wayne Gunderson

Daniel Wayne Gunderson,70, of Sugar Land, Texas passed away November 23, 2022.
Daniel was born in Mobile, AL on September 10, 1952, to Dorothy and Donald Gunderson. After Daniel graduated from Dickinson High School, he went on to study Mechanical Engineering at Texas Tech University.
After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1975, he started his first job with Halliburton. He worked as a Petroleum Engineer for 40+ years all over the world. He loved the work that he did and never wanted to stop.
In 1978, he met the love of his life Rebecca Matthews and they were married shortly after. They proceeded to have four daughters over the next several years, Amanda, Alison, Katy, and Holly.
He had a passion for golf, football and was a huge Astros fan. You could always find him either on a golf course or watching sports when he wasn't working. He also loved his Red Raiders and went to many football games with his family over the years.
Daniel Gunderson was predeceased by his father, Donald Gunderson and mother, Dorothy Gunderson. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Gunderson and their daughters, Amanda Medina, Alison Grizzle and husband Josh Grizzle, Katy Cuevas and husband Kaleb Cuevas, and Holly Monroe and husband Matt Monroe; seven grandkids, Alexis, Isabel, Mackenzie, Zackary, Eden, Elijah, and Ellie; one great-granddaughter, Anastasia; sister, Diana Boise and husband David Boise; sister-in-law, Deborah Matthews; brother-in-law, Paul Matthews; nephew, Chris Boise and wife Heather Boise; nieces, Merileigh Cormin, Jillian O'Leary and husband Weston O'Leary, and Kayla Matthews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at St Peter's United Methodist Church, 20775 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77450. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Alzheimer's Association.
