Daniel Hagle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kaatz Funeral Directors - Richmond on Feb. 19, 2026.
Daniel Thomas Hagle, age 20, passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2026, trying to save a co-worker.

He was born on January 4, 2006, to Duane and Cherrie (nee Atkeson) Hagle. Danny brought immeasurable light and love into the lives of everyone who knew him. His smile could brighten any room, and his heart of gold left a lasting mark on his family, friends, and community.

Danny was the cherished son of Duane and Cherrie Hagle and the proud, devoted brother of Nathan Hagle. The bond Danny shared with Nathan was unbreakable-he loved showing his brother just how much he meant to him. He was also the beloved grandson of Donna Atkeson and Ann Hagle.

He is lovingly remembered by his aunts and uncles, Connie (Scott) Barrett, Bryan Atkeson, Daryl (Nancy) Hagle, and Debbie Schulz. He will be deeply missed by his cousins, Christina (Kenny) Martin, Ashley Barrett, Josh Barrett, Bryan Atkeson Jr., Robin (Ricco Colon) Atkeson, Rosie Vizineau, Jason Atkeson, Jerome Atkeson, Eric Atkeson, Crystal Atkeson, Carrie (Josh) Pearl, Scott Atkeson, Matt Hagle, and Joe Hagle. Daniel also shared a special bond with his loyal dog, Diesel, who was never far from his side.

Danny had a deep love for the outdoors and adventure. He enjoyed ORVs, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, and four-wheelers, as well as camping and traveling with family and friends. Some of his happiest moments were spent at the family cabin in Grayling, where bonfires burned late into the night and laughter filled the air. Danny and his mother enjoyed traveling together and made it to 26 states with a goal of visiting all 50. He loved truck meets, boat races, bowling, and music with the bass turned up loud.

An "animal whisperer" at heart, Danny had a natural way with animals and people alike. He loved helping others and lived with a servant's heart. He volunteered at a local church and took pride in being the top contributor in his tech class clothing donation drive. He also served as a caring companion and caregiver to a Vietnam Veteran, Jim, showing compassion and respect beyond his years.

Danny was a hardworking young man who loved vegetable gardening with his dad and found joy in working alongside local farmers, Bill and Bonnie. He dreamed of one day taking over their hay farm-a testament to his dedication, work ethic, and love of the land.

Danny's life, though far too short, was full of purpose, laughter, kindness, and love. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his adventurous soul, and the warmth he gave so freely to others.

He leaves behind a family who adored him, friends who treasured him, and a community that will forever feel his absence. Though our hearts are broken, we hold tightly to the beautiful memories he gave us.

Daniel's light will never fade.

Danny is predeceased by his grandfathers, Clifford Atkeson and Warren Hagle as well as uncle Cliffy Atkeson Jr. and cousin, David Mathews.

The family honors the memory of Danny and invites you to visit and share memories Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday with 10:00 a.m. visiting at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond.
