Daniel Charles Kilgore, 75, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 4:44 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Northwest Health La Porte with the ones who loved him the most.
He was born in La Porte on October 2, 1949, to Charles and Beatrice (Wagner) Kilgore.
On June 7, 1980 he married Marie Ann Sawaya, who preceded him in death.
Daniel drove the school bus for Michigan City Area Schools for forty-nine and a half years and worked for ERB Lumber for twenty years. He also worked for Pioneer Lumber for fifteen years and was a Springfield Township volunteer fireman for forty-five years. Daniel also served on the Springfield Township board thirty years and helped design the new fire trucks for the township. He loved watching the wild life on his property and was an amazing cook. Danny's down fall was peanut butter and crackers. He was greatly loved and will be truly missed.
Surviving are his three step children, Leslie (Ron) Bardusk-Anderson of Trail Creek, Joseph (Janice) Bardusk of Three Oaks, and Mark (Jennifer) Bardusk of New Prairie; grandchildren, Mae Bardusk, Sarah Bardusk, Anna (Tim) Nelson, and Marissa Bardusk.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 13 2025 at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 with Pastor Dave Swartz officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 12, 2025 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Pine Lake Cemetery in La Porte.
