Daniel Labay Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Triska Funeral Home - El Campo on Sep. 15, 2025.
Daniel "Danny" Paul Labay went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2025. He was born on November 15, 1952, in El Campo, Texas, to Connie (Kubeca) and Fred Labay. As the oldest of three boys, Danny often led the way into mischief, leaving behind stories told for years about pasture fires, coon hunting in a hearse, and more than a few peach limb spankings. After graduating from Rice High School, he worked in the rice fields of Colorado County before beginning a lifelong career in tire recapping operations with Strouhal Tire. There, he became both a dependable employee and a highly skilled technician, respected by coworkers and friends alike. Danny's greatest pride was being the father of four daughters. A family man at heart, he worked hard to provide a good life for them and found joy in life's simple pleasures. His happiest place was beneath the peach tree, a Natural Light in hand, surrounded by those he loved. Danny is survived by his daughters: Amanda Klatt and children Kendal, Kennedy, and Kolbie; Jennifer and Duane Kudelka and children Corey, Kim, & Dante, and Brayden; Danielle and Ryan Kudelka and children Blair and Watson; and Jessica Skutca and son Ridge. He is also survived by his brothers Paul (Sam) Labay and Alan Labay, stepfather Jimmie Schoellmann, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends, and coworkers who he loved and respected. He was preceded in death by his parents, Connie and Fred Labay, and his mother- and father-in-law, Richard and Elizabeth Watson. Visitation will begin 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Triska Funeral Home, followed by a rosary at 6:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nada. Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Corey Kudelka, BJ Peikert, Brayden Kudelka, Larry Smidovec, Aaron Labay, Larry Wayne Kotulek. Honorary pallbearers will be Watson Kudelka, Ridge Skutca and Dante Kudelka. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
