Jason Labay ObituaryIt is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jason Labay, a beloved son, nephew, and esteemed professional, who left us peacefully on November 13, 2025, at the age of 53. Born on February 28, 1972, at Akron OH to Pat (John) Labay and the Late Patricia (Heater) Labay.
Jason was a team member of the Springfield Spartan Alumni Football team, and a chapter adivsor of the Kent State's Delta Sigma PI.
Jason dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge and the exploration of the universe, earning a Master's Degree and establishing a successful career as a Lead Program and Project Specialist at NASA. His contributions to the fields of space and aeronautics have left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege to work alongside him.
Jason was known not only for his brilliant mind and unwavering dedication to advancing aerospace technology but also for his kind heart and the warmth he extended to everyone in his life. He was a cherished member of his family, survived by his father, Pat (John) Labay, brother Payton Warren (bone marrow donor), as well as his uncles and aunts: Michael (Debbie) Labay, Susie Quintrell, Polly (Roger) Evans, Ruthy (Robert) Harris, and Janet (Michael) Miller. Lifelong school friends to the very end, Kathleen and Nicole, and all his NASA family. Jason's legacy of love and support will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Jason was preceded in death by: Grandparents Johnny and Ruth Labay, Merrit Heater, Mother Patricia Labay, sister Kerry Labay, Aunt Teresa Firth, Uncle Gary Quintrell and cousin Christopher Messina.
We would like to thank the Seidman Cancer Center at UH, the Western Reserve Hospice Center for their kindness and understanding.
The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to Payton Warren for his selfless gift of his bone marrow donation, which provided Jason many years of renewed health, life and cherished memories.
The family will receive guests Friday, November 21, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home 811 Grant St, Akron Oh.. A funeral service to celebrate Jason's life will be held on Saturday morning, November 22, 2025, at 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by his burial in Hillside Cemetery, 1025 Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44312.
In this time of mourning, we reflect on the profound impact Jason had on the lives of many. While he has departed from this world, his spirit will continue to inspire as we honor his memory and the legacy he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.
