Daniel Edward Lakins

Daniel Edward Lakins, 77, of Seymour, passed away at his son's home in Greenfield, Indiana on September 25, 2025. Daniel was born on February 17, 1948, in Austin, Indiana to Jake and Margaret Lakins. He was a veteran of the United States Army, who served two tours of duty in Vietnam. During his service, Daniel was wounded. After his service, he went to work for Cummins and retired from there after many years of service. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1925 and the American Legion Post No. 89, both in Seymour. Daniel was also a member of the Honor Guard for the posts. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge and ABATE. He also liked to hunt, fish and cook for his family, as he was at home in the kitchen.
Daniel is survived by his children: Brian (Sally) Lakins and Carissa Lakins; grandchildren: Deanna, Kira, Katie, Chase, Blade and Nadia; sister, Bobbie Caplinger; several step-brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents.
On Thursday, October 2, 2025, there will be a graveside service with full military honors to celebrate Daniel's life at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road, Madison at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm Thursday at Voss & Sons Funeral and Cremation Service in Seymour.
